Animal Harbor Volunteer of the Decade: Joanne Groat

Joanne Groat has been a volunteer for Animal Harbor since 2007. She has been involved in wildlife rehabilitation and has a great love of animals and a passion for helping them. During her first year, Joanne came in once a week and helped with the afternoon cleaning and cat care.  Later on, because of her work schedule, it became difficult for her to get to Animal Harbor every week, so she offered to do some work from home.

Glenda Horton Named 2012 Volunteer of the Year

Franklin County Humane Society President Pat Thompson presents the 2012 Volunteer of the Year Award to Glenda Horton.

Glenda Horton lives near the shelter with her husband Gary. They run a warehouse business and have a farm where they grow corn, wheat, and soybeans. She has a large German shepherd dog named Tank, a 10-year-old poodle named Peanut, and two outdoor cats.  Glenda has spent time cleaning the office, and has done a great deal of mowing of our grounds. Representatives of Animal Harbor brought out the gold shovels for the official groundbreaking ceremony on June 22, 2013, celebrating the future construction of a brand new shelter.
