Nissan Donates Titan To Humane Society

Vehicle Will Be Used To Support Society’s Mission

The Franklin County Humane Society now has a new resource to help its staff and volunteers do their jobs better: a new Nissan Titan truck, thanks to a donation from Nissan North America.

“Nissan makes a lot of donations to nonprofit organizations across the country,” says Nissan Director/Plant Manager Rick Youngblood. “We’re glad to support the work of our local Humane Society and appreciate the work they do to make a positive contribution to our community. The Titan is a great vehicle that will make it a lot easier for the Humane Society to transport animals and get them to a safe place.”

The vehicle will be used to support the Humane Society’s mission to provide health care and temporary shelter for lost and homeless animals, to Šnd new homes for them, to prevent cruelty to animals and to educate the community about animal welfare.

“This new truck will be a tremendous help,” says Animal Harbor Shelter Manager Amber Kelley. “We are so grateful to Nissan for this lovely big truck. We’ve found that Nissan really cares about what happens in our community, and this is one more example of how the company is making a difference in Franklin County.”  The Franklin County Humane Society is a growing organization operating a shelter for homeless dogs and cats rescued in Franklin County. The shelter, Animal Harbor, is located at 25 Walnut Grove Road in Belvidere.

All Animal Harbor pets are checked by a veterinarian and given age-appropriate shots.   Adult dogs are tested for heartworms and put on heartworm preventive. Cats are tested for FeLV and FIV and then given preventive inoculations. All the pets are given rabies shots when they are old enough and are treated to prevent flea infestation. All Animal Harbor pets are spayed or neutered before adoption.
