A Critical Need: Expanding to Save More Lives

At Animal Harbor, every kennel represents a second chance—a safe place where an abandoned or homeless dog can heal, grow, and find their way to a loving home. But right now, that second chance is at risk.

With the rise of infectious diseases, particularly upper respiratory infections and parasitic infections in incoming dogs, our current facility is not equipped to provide the necessary care while keeping our healthy dogs safe. We do not have a true stand-alone, properly ventilated isolation space, which means a single sick dog can put our entire shelter population at risk. 

Without proper separation, the spread of illness forces us to temporarily shut down intakes—leaving dogs in desperate situations with nowhere to go.

At the same time, kennel space is at a breaking point. Animal Harbor is always full, operating at max capacity with a waitlist of dogs in urgent need. We simply don’t have enough space to keep up with the demand.

The solution? Expansion.
